Rethinking Rest
What if biblical rest isn’t about doing less—but about living and working exactly as God designed?
Our modern understanding of biblical rest isn’t working. Debates about which day the Sabbath should be observed and how it should be practiced have often led to confusion, distraction, and even apathy among believers. But the Bible presents a vision of rest that is far richer—and far more practical—than we often realize.
In this study, we’ll explore how the ancient Near Eastern context of Scripture shapes the biblical idea of rest. We’ll discover that rest is not simply about stopping work, but about living in alignment with God’s design—embracing the place we are meant to be and the work we are created to do.
Jesus’ invitation to rest may seem paradoxical: He calls us to take on a yoke—an instrument of work—yet it is within that yoke that true rest is found. This study will challenge assumptions and invite us to experience rest the way God intended.
